The Carolina Piedmont Region comprises 10 American Red Cross chapters that cover 14 counties in North Carolina. The concept of the region is for the chapters to pool mutual aid and resources to better provide services to their clients. This provides a network that uses a team effort to tackle challenges - such as disasters - that may be more than just one chapter can handle by itself. Our network helps to ensure that Red Cross clients across the region are being provided the best possible service.
Help the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund
Congress has passed—and the President has signed into law—legislation that includes $100 million for Red Cross disaster relief. These funds will reimburse the Red Cross for disaster relief and recovery expenditures and emergency services associated with the major disasters of 2008.
• There is precedent for Red Cross receiving federal funding for disasters. In 2004, we received $28 million of a $70 million appropriation for four hurricanes that made landfall in Florida that year.
In early September, the American Red Cross launched a $100 million nationwide fundraising campaign. We have named it The Campaign for Disaster Relief: Disasters Change Lives. You Can Too.
